Setting Image View

The Image View feature is similar to an aspect ratio control. It modifies the picture by stretching, zooming or by adding gray bars. Image View is part of the Bose® system because most TVs disable their own aspect ratio controls when displaying an HD signal from an HDMI® connection.

To change the Image View, the following conditions must be met:

The media console must be connected to the TV via HDMI

Video resolution of the Bose system should be set to "Adjustable," or, if set to "Fixed," the output signal from the connected device must be equal to or greater than 720p. For more information on setting video resolution, see Setting video resolution

The Widescreen TV setting of the Bose system must be set to "Yes." For more information on changing the Widescreen TV setting, see Changing "Widescreen TV" setting

When the above criteria are met, follow any of the three procedures below.

To set Image View with the Settings menu displayed on the TV, follow these steps:

Be sure the TV is on with the correct input selected

on the remote, press settings

press the down arrow to highlight "image view"

press the right arrow to highlight the available settings

press the up arrow or down arrow to select the appropriate setting:

normal: image is not changed

4:3 image on widescreen TV

16:9 image on widescreen TV

zoom: image size is increased horizontally and vertically to fit the screen

stretch: stretches the image horizontally to fit the screen

gray bars: adds a vertical gray bar to the left and right sides of the normal image

press exit to save the selections and leave the menu
 

To set Image View with the Settings menu displayed on the TV, follow these steps:

on the remote, press settings

press the down arrow to place the > symbol next to "view"

press the right arrow to place the > symbol next to the setting

press the up arrow or down arrow to select the appropriate setting. see step 5 above for a description of the settings

press exit to save the selections and leave the menu

To set Image View using the remote control only

press image view repeatedly to toggle though the available settings.

note: this feature depends on the source. if "stretch" is applied to the tv source, and the source is switched to aux, the image defaults to normal (unless it was previously changed). the setting is retained for each source, for example, if you switch back to tv, the image remains stretched.
